What Did OpenAI Do This Week?
WILL AN APPLE A DAY KEEP GOOGLE AWAY?
Sam Altman had a very busy week dodging hot takes, take down pieces and throwing around a lot of smoke grenade deals and announcements. However, there’s only one deal on everyone’s lips right now…
Whilst still in the shadow of ScaJo debacle, the spotlight hit Altman again as Former OpenAI board member Helen Toner revealed why the OpenAI board fired him in November 2023. Turns out it was safety and nondisclosure issues. Welcome to being on a board all. See below for the slew of announcements, deals and news that OpenAI OpenAI threw up to deflect negative glances from Altman.
The big news of the week should leave a sweet taste in everyone’s mouth. While details are sparse, it looks very likely that Apple has indeed done a deal with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT functionality into iOS 18. How this will be done, or when by, is the interesting bit. Not only because Microsoft’s connection to OpenAI, but also because of the history of ‘sherlocking’ ideas and apps. Arc seems a likely target based on current excitement, but other developers are awaiting June 10th’s WWDC announcement with baited breath.
